| thank you for a successful 2009 music car wash! |
After working for two weeks selling tickets to all of their families, neighbors and friends 334 Band, Chorus, and Orchestra students and families worked for six solid hours to wash 343 cars on Saturday, Oct. 17. The generous donations of baked goods and the impassioned selling by roving bake sale volunteers allowed the bake sale to sell twice the amount of goods this year. Our BBQ staff served about 346 lunches to student and family volunteers and car wash customers. It was our tastiest lunch yet thanks to the careful shopping of our BBQ managers and some wonderful donations of fresh fruit by several parents and Whole Foods. Mr. and Mrs. Yonemura came through at the last minute with a much needed donation of coffee from Peets for the bake sale, along with the delicious donuts that they donate every year. Thanks to some resourceful volunteers we sold over 130 bags of freshly popped popcorn. Our fabulous towel washing volunteers made sure that there were only three bags of dirty wet towels left at the end of the day for the Parent Liaisons to take home and wash, for which we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our music staff also put in some long hours helping organize and motivate the volunteers, and helped wash quite a few cars along the way. Mr. Frank, Mr. Koppes, and Mr. Yonemura were at the car wash from the time the gates opened until 4:30pm when the janitor locked the gates. The car wash was a wonderful success and raised a vital portion of the money necessary to help with the costs of running our program for the year. We couldn’t have this fundraiser without the help of parents and students who worked hard both at the car wash and behind the scenes. Thank you everyone for all of your work.
