Hoover Italian Club

All students interested in learning Italian should come to room B12 on Friday Mornings at 8 am as our Italian club is starting for the 2009-2010 school year. All levels of Italian and beginners are welcome. This program is sponsored by a contribution from the Italian Foreign Affair Ministry and the Italian Consulate in San Francisco as administered by the Italian culture society. No fight Policy at Hoover
Thomas H. Graven, Principal

We have noticed an increase in play fighting, in PE, the yard, and the hallways recently. Sometimes these play fights turn into bigger issues, that affect student safety and how safe students feel at school. Please be reminded, no play fighting or fighting of any kind is allowed at school.

If you have a conflict, adult staff are here to help you, please talk to an adult. Any rough or aggressive playing or any harmful physical conflict will result in suspension from school & family meetings and other interventions. We need your help to keep our school safe and fun. Keep your hands to yourself and talk to an adult if you are not feeling safe.

Promptness to Class

We have noticed that too many students are late to class. This is affecting school climate, student learning and disrupting instruction. Starting the first day of Spring semester, JAN 21st, Hoover will focus on encouraging promptness to class. Students who are tardy will be warned and after the third tardy warning, will be assigned detention (after school or lunchtime detention under the supervision of counselors and teachers). We will be calling families of all students who are tardy and asking for their support in this effort.

Below is the link to the UC website that lets you find the UC approved classes at a particular school. To find a certain school, enter it in the search box. Then select the right school on the search results page. That takes you to the list of the selected schools classes that meet the UC a-g requirements. The courses with yellow stars are the ones that UC gives 5.0 GPA points for an A. Most are AP courses, but there are a few Honors classes that also get the extra point.
