Dear friends and fellow members,
As we close this school year, I would like to take this time to especially thank you for working tirelessly to engage our families and bring them the opportunity to build community and serve community. Your work is an important part of the PTA legacy and we appreciate you very much.
Have a wonderful and safe summer holiday.
Yours sincerely, Stephanie LeBeau, Second District PTA President
2. LAST DAY - Please turn in your Annual Report
All PTAs in San Francisco must turn in their Annual Report ASAP (it was due by May 15th). Here is the form; you may send it in by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The most important part of this document is the record of your PTA's volunteer hours. Hopefully you have been tracking them throughout the year. If you haven't, please work with your volunteer leaders to make a good estimate. This number is important for us to be able to substantiate your work as a non-profit organization. What counts as volunteer hours? See this handy flyer for ideas!
3. THIS WEEK - Please turn in New Officer Contact Lists
We also need the contact information for all of your PTA's newly elected officers as soon as the election takes place so that we can make sure they have all the resources they need to be successful next year. You could say that by turning this information this month, you are giving your new board the best gift they could ask for! The officer contact list template can be found here (3rd form down) and is also attached. Please send the completed report to email@example.com. If you have not yet held your PTA elections, please send us a note letting us know when they will happen or if you need help/support.
4. May 31, this Saturday: New PTA Officers Training, 8:30am-12pm
Calling all new PTA officers for 2014-2015! Don't miss your chance to learn about your new role and how to do it well on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 8:30-12:00 at the Chronicle Building on Mission and 5th Street. We will start with a vote on the Second District PTA bylaws, and then will train you on bylaws, finances, and the following officer positions (anyone may attend any of the sessions):

Please let us know if you need childcare for the meeting, or if Spanish or Chinese interpretation services are needed.
and pass this information to all your newly elected officers! If you can, stay for the Soda Tax information session immediately following the training. Lunch will be served at 12 and the session (described in detail below) will begin at 12:30.
5. May 31, this Saturday: Soda Tax Information Session, 12:30pm
Attend an information session immediately following the May 31st officer training from 12:30-1:30pm. The meeting will be at 901 Mission Street (Chronicle Building). Lunch will be provided beginning at 12:00pm and then you will have a chance to ask more questions of the campaign manager and other leaders in the effort so you will be better able to answer questions that come your way.
6. Please, please, please take 10 minutes for this PTA Communications Survey today!
We want to make sure we are communicating with you the way you want to be communicated with, and are trying all kinds of new things this year (i.e. this e-newsletter, social media, etc.). Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey to give feedback on this newsletter, our website, our social media platforms, and what you would like to learn about in the communication world. Your opinion matters! THANK YOU!

A new FREE resource to help support PTA parent leaders.
California’s Education System is Changing Fast.
Learn How It Really Works, So You Can Make a Difference.
We created Ed100 to help you become an informed leader in the work of making schools better. This is particularly important now, because your local community has more say than ever before about how education dollars are spent at your school.
Use the LCAP Parent Checklist template. This template will help you determine “next steps” to make your schools better. Your PTA and school community can work on it together to provide input on your Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). It includes handy links to Ed100 lessons and other resources.

Have a great final week of school!
