Encourage the arts with Reflections

Recognize student artwork through the PTA Reflections Art Program.

PTA’s national Reflections Art Program has celebrated and recognized student achievement for more than 10 million students since 1969. Reflections helps California State PTA and its members, families and kids, increases community promote awareness of the importance of arts in education.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

  • Unleash their creative talents and get inspired
  • Express themselves imaginatively through art
  • Experience the fun and joy of making art
  • Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
  • Receive positive recognition for their original work

All students attending San Francisco PTA schools are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

  • Special Artist Division
  • Dance/choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film Production
  • Music Composition
  • Visual Arts
Artwork is recognized at the city, state and national level.

Artworks are submitted first to your own PTA, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. Each PTA then chooses a selection of entries to be judged by the Second District PTA. Deadline for submission to the District is Friday, December 11, 2017.

Final artworks are submitted to California State PTA in January and are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round in June 2017.

Review the details of the program at the CAPTA.org website.
