To keep your PTA’s finance in tip top shape, read these recommendations from the State PTA.

To remit any membership dues, insurance premium or additional workers compensation premium, please use this file Unit Remit Form 2016-2017 (v2) pdf (PDF download).

ALL units must submit a Workers' Compensation Form by January 15, even if they didn't pay any people over the past calendar year. Please follow the directions on the form and contact if you have any questions. 

Developing a budget.

What should be finished early in the 2016-2017 school year:

  1. Year-end audit for last year
  2. Financial Report for 2015-2016
  3. Federal Tax Return 990 for 2015-2016 filed
  4. State Tax Return 199 for 2015-2016 filed
  5. RRF-1 and Raffle Registration (if holding a raffle) for 2016-2017 filed
  6. Non-profit Raffle Report for 2015-2016 filed (if applicable)
  7. Items 1 and 2 presented and adopted by vote at a General Meeting (GM)
  8. Budget for 2015-2016 recommended by Executive Board (EB) and adopted by GM
  9. Outgoing Treasurer's permanent file for 2015-2016
  10. Forward copies of items 1-6 and 8 to Second District

What should be done between now and February 1, 2017:

  1. Present financial reports/check ratification at each EB and GM
  2. Be sure to record all PTA activities in GM minutes to trigger insurance coverage
  3. Reconcile the bank statement each month-end
  4. Remit dues to Second District at the beginning of each month
  5. Remit insurance premium to Second District by mid-November ($216 for 2016-2017)
  6. Revise budget as necessary and vote to adopt changes at GM
  7. Appoint (if not elected) auditor by December GM
  8. Do mid-year audit in January (half-way through the year)
  9. Submit Workers' Compensation Report and payment (if required) to Second District by January 15, 2017
