President / EVP*
What exactly is the president responsible for and how can they best lead and support the work of your PTA? This workshop will cover essential information including the president’s role in finances, appointing committees, and collaboration, coordination and communication with all stakeholders.
*Executive Vice-Presidents work closely with the President and perform presidential duties in their absence, so EVPs need to understand this role as well.

Financial Officers: Treasurer / Financial Secretary / Financial Reviewer
This workshop will cover the basic financial responsibilities of financial officers: presenting regular financial reports, sound financial procedures for approving and tracking expenses, and reporting requirements in order to remain in good standing with CAPTA, the state of CA, and the IRS. You will also receive recommendations for file management for seamless and efficient financial reviews, and suggestions for distribution of responsibilities across financial officer roles and committees.

Secretary
The Secretary of your PTA maintains essential records for the organization. You will learn about those records in this workshop, as well as best practices for keeping minutes of your meetings – an important record of all actions taken by your PTA membership.

Parliamentarian
This workshop will review the responsibilities of the Parliamentarian, and will also be a useful training for another officer who might take some of these responsibilities should your PTA not have a Parliamentarian. These duties include providing guidance on using Robert’s Rules to run meetings, updating and maintaining bylaws, and convening the nominating committee for annual officer elections.

New Officer Training Spring 2020
This virtual training was conducted over Zoom and recorded. The first hour discusses how to run meetings. The next half hour is a training for treasurers. The final hour joins a president training mid-session.
