PTA’s national Reflections Art Program has celebrated and recognized student achievement for more than 10 million students since 1969. Reflections helps California State PTA and its members, families and kids, increase community awareness of the importance of arts in education.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

  • Unleash their creative talents and get inspired
  • Express themselves imaginatively through art
  • Experience the fun and joy of making art
  • Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
  • Receive positive recognition for their original work

PARTICIPATION IS EASY, EXCITING AND EMPOWERING

All students attending San Francisco PTA schools are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

  • Special Artist Division
  • Dance/choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film Production
  • Music Composition
  • Visual Arts

Artwork is recognized at the city, state and national level.

Artworks are submitted first to your own PTA, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged.

Final artworks selected by your school from each category in five different grade divisions are submitted to California State PTA in January to be considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit.

Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round!

Review the details of the program at the CAPTA.org website.

All Student Entries must be accompanied by a Student Entry Form filled out in its entirety with your PTA Unit Number and PTA Contact in the top portion, Name of Student, Mailing Address of Student, Parent Contact, Title of Work, Category, and Artist’s 150 word Statement. Incomplete Entries will not be accepted.

Winning Entries and all other Art will be returned to Schools by the end of the year, with any Awards announced on our list-serves and any awards delivered with the Art. Please be sure to supply a PTA contact on Student Entry forms such that we have a point-person when we deliver the Art.
